In Cameroon there is a widespread problem of growing poverty and rapid spread of diseases especially HIV/AIDS. The poorest people are getting poorer as market forces take hold of the national economy. Due to the poverty children drop out of schools, families are unable to feed or provide for them and force them into child labour or other health threatening work. Amongst such work are prostitution, street crimes and all kinds of petty trade through which they get
exposed to diseases and risks that drive them further into poverty. This cycle of poverty affects women and girls the most and is worst amongst the poorest in the society. It is believed that a major factor underlying the cycle is illiteracy, ignorance and lack of access to basic means to help themselves. Micro-finance is one of the very few access such persons have to the required means. But where micro-finance exists, the poorest and or those affected by HIV/AIDS are disadvantaged. The present project aims at tackling this problem and showing that, even with minimal means, it is possible to break this cycle of poverty and to begin to develop into happy, optimistic and fulfilled societies.
Through the project the most disadvantaged will enabled to help themselves and to play more active leadership roles in their societies. The main goal of this project is to introduce an innovation to the fight against poverty, hunger and the spread of HIV/AIDS through sensitisation.
