Projects
Services
We have intimate knowledge and understanding of the situation in Africa. Beside regular visits to Africa, we very closely monitor events in, on or affecting Africa. Being in Wageningen, we are in the midst of the Dutch agricultural and land development expertise. We are also within easy reach of most European centers involved with Africa. We are in active communication with many of these agencies. We should, therefore, be one of the best partner for your work with or in Africa. We can provide you an unbiased and independent advisory support and insight for your work in or with Africa. We have helped to formulate many new programme concepts.
Representation
We play an intermediary role to ensure good communication between the North and South. Where there are problems, we try to help sort these out. We also perform representation roles for the South in the North and of the North in the South. We help to explain the North in the South and vice versa, e.g. in specialist forums, public events, development debates, etc. We try to be as unbiased as practically possible. We should, therefore, provide you with the bridge with your potential or actual partners in the North or South. FemSud has helped to get micro-credit schemes for some of the groups.
Project Development, Monitoring & Evaluation
We were born and grew up in Africa and have extensive professional exposures. Our native and professional backgrounds explain our deep insight into the circumstances in Africa and also of some of the opportunities to address some of the issues. We focus on institution building – identify strengths and weakness and how to help make the local groups self-reliant and live sustainable livelihoods. We can support your work by helping kick-start the activities, or by monitoring and /or evaluating the projects. We are particularly interested in countries ravaged by civil wars, deforestation and famine. We have helped to inject life in some projects which were not making progress.
Stimulating Partnership for Africa
We play an intermediary role - to ensure good communication between the North and South. Where there are problems, we try to help sort these out. We also perform representation roles for the South in the North and of the North in the South. We help to explain the North in the South and vice versa, e.g. in specialist forums, public events, development debates, etc.
We focus on helping to address the plight of women in Africa as they fight poverty. We believe that our native background, professional up-bringing and exposure best positioned us to help to make a difference in work in or with Africa. We also believe that there are many others with good-will. We all can only be effective if we work together. We therefore believe that our priority is to facilitate that partnership for Africa.
Activities
The organisation facilitate training women, girls and men in agriculture, health care, SME (Small Medium Enterprises), and management skills so that they can actively participate in developing their society. We also help sensitising women and girls on issues of environmental protection, production of crafts and low-input agriculture to ensure food security and improvements in their living conditions.
Why we chose women? FemSud Consult emerged from nearly six years of regular contact and informal support to women groups especially in Africa. These contacts in Africa have actively influenced how we work especially in terms of where the emphasis should lie. The FemSud ideas owe their origin to this long-term dialogue. We are mainly interested and involved in networking and support to women in the South.
